Perfect for fixing a document scanned upside down, removing blank or useless pages, putting the sheets in the right order or straightening a page that's sideways. The result is a clean new PDF, ready to send or print.
Tip
You can combine several actions before saving: for example delete the blank pages, rotate the landscape ones by 90° and drag the last page to the start. The new PDF is created only when you press «Save».
The three operations that fix almost everything
Almost every broken PDF is fixed with three gestures: move, remove and rotate. They are the three faults an automatic scanner produces: pages in reverse order, blank sheets from the back of each page, and landscape pages lying the wrong way round.
The single most frequent case is the double-sided scan with empty backs: thirty pages become sixty, of which thirty are blank. Removing them before filing halves the size and makes the document readable on screen without skipping every other page.
Why «print to PDF» is not enough
Reprinting the document to PDF to reorder it looks simpler, but it redraws everything from scratch: the text may or may not stay selectable depending on the program, images are recompressed and quality drops. The file changes even where nothing was supposed to.
Reorganising the pages instead copies them exactly as they are, byte for byte: same text, same fonts, same quality. It is also far quicker, because there is nothing to redraw, and on a two-hundred-page document the difference is obvious.
What to check before saving
The two things always forgotten are bookmarks and mixed orientation: moving pages leaves bookmarks pointing where they used to be, and a document with rotated pages should be viewed full screen before filing, not in the small preview.
It is also worth checking the first and last page, the ones seen first and reviewed by almost nobody: a cover left at the end or a trailing blank page is the mistake that makes it obvious the document was reassembled in a hurry.
