Lines into a bullet list

What it's for

It turns a block of lines into a bulleted list by putting a dot in front of each one. It's for the places where bold text and real lists don't exist: an Instagram caption, a video description, a WhatsApp message, a profile bio, the notes field of some business software. There the bullet is a character like any other, so it survives copy and paste and looks the same on every phone.

How it treats the lines

Every line with text in it gets the bullet and is trimmed of spaces at the start and the end. Empty lines stay empty, with no bullet: that way blocks separated by a blank line stay separated and the list doesn't become one single column.

Run it only once: if the text already had bullets, you end up with two per line. If that happens, paste the original text again instead of fixing the result.

The detail that makes the difference on social

Many platforms swallow the line breaks in captions or show them differently from how you typed them. The bullet helps because it makes the start of each item visible even when the lines get squashed together.
